Emerson's Eastside Community Garden is highlighted and referenced several times in this publication, especially in the chapter on garden design.

Emerson News Update

Garden Work Day- Saturday, February 5, from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m.  We need to do some general garden clean up as well as plant potatoes !  Please come out and join us!

Saturday School- This Saturday your child can make up an absence from 8 a.m. until 12:20.  If your child has an absence, he/she can still qualify for a perfect attendance awad.  Saturday School students will be allowed to work on the laptop computers playing the 24 Game on First in Math!

Holiday Alert!   Friday, February, 11 and Monday, February 21, we have NO SCHOOL!!!  Remember- we have a:  full week this week, a four-day week next week, then a full five-day week followed by a four-day week!  (5,4,5,4)

RUSD History Day was held last Saturday at Earhart Middle School.  Several Emerson students, present and past, walked away with awards, and many are moving on to the County competition.  Click here for more details.

Construction Update: The new lunch shelter (pictured below) is complete and the concrete is expected to be poured this week.  Grading for drainage and the new fire lane is in process.  Construction is expected to be complete by April.

9/11 Day of Caring

The United Way supported our Eastside Community Garden last year during the Day of Caring.  On Saturday, September 11, 2010,  volunteers are planning to return to work in the garden.  You can help too!

Volunteerism is a characteristic that you may want to teach your children.   This event is a great opportunity to work along with your child while showing them that you value volunteerism. 

Join the crowd in the breezeway at City Hall between 7 - 8 a.m. on Saturday, September 11.  Here is the link to register.  Last year all of the volunteers received a free LIVE UNITED T-shirt. 

We have ordered supplies for planting our fall crop (lettuce, cabbage, broccoli etc.) on that day.  I look forward to seeing you!
